<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a function for appropriately determining the adhesion of stains to a radome or a radar cover. <P>SOLUTION: This radar apparatus for vehicles to be mounted to a vehicle is provided with: a profile creating means for electronically and mechanically scanning a prescribed angle range and creating a scanning angle profile (changes in a reception level to changes in scanning angles) of a reception level; and a stain determination means for determining the presence or absence of the adhesion of stains (to a radome or a radar cover) on the basis of the sharpness of a peak of the scanning angle profile of the reception level created by the profile creating means. The stain determination means determines the adhesion of stains when the sharpness of the peak of the scanning angle profile is below a prescribed threshold value. The stain determination means determines that the peak of the scanning angle profile is below the prescribed threshold value when an angle width between two scanning angles in which a reception level lower than the peak of the scanning angle profile by a prescribed amount is, for example, wider than a prescribed angle width. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
