<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide titanium hydroxide or titanium dioxide which has an unprecedented, special shape, i.e. a hollow rod (a rod having a through-hole in the major axis direction). <P>SOLUTION: The titanium hydroxide or the titanium dioxide is in the form of a rod having the through-hole in the major axis direction. Preferably, in the titanium hydroxide or the titanium dioxide, the major axis (a), the minor axis (b), the inner diameter (c), the aspect ratio (a)/(b) and the hollow ratio (b)/(c) satisfy the relations: 5≤a≤100μm, 1≤b≤10μm, 0.5≤c≤8μm, 2≤(a)/(b)≤50 and 1.5≤(b)/(c)≤10, respectively.
