PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an Internet facsimile apparatus in which an opposite party's receiver can perform double-sided print processing when a double-sided original document is transmitted by the Internet facsimile. SOLUTION: In executing e-mail transmission, the apparatus determines whether or not a read original document is a double-sided document, and if it is not a double-sided document, the apparatus transmits the original document to an opposite party by e-mail transmission (steps 101, 102). On the contrary, if the original document is a double-sided document, the apparatus adds information indicating that the document is a double-sided document to a mail header, and adds a message that the original document has read on both sides to the mail text and transmits the mail (steps 103-105). If the information indicating that the original document is a double-sided document is included in the mail header or the mail text of the received e-mail, a receiver adds double-sided attributes of the double-sided original document to the received original document of the added file and stores the document, thereby enabling processing such as double-sided print.
