PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image controlling method and a device, wherein a desired image can be retrieved even if a user does not grasp information on an image photographing position. SOLUTION: A retrieving process is carried out by the use of an image control device which is equipped with an image reading unit 101 that reads in the photographed images recorded by a camera provided with a GPS device, an additional information extracting unit 102 that reads out GPS information attached to or set for the image, a facility database 103 that stores the names of two or more facilities, matching them with their positions, a retrieving data forming unit 104 that acquires the names of the facilities located in a certain range around the image photographing position, referring to the GPS information and the facility database, an image retrieve database 105 which stores the images and the names of the facilities that are read in, matching them with each other, an image retrieving unit 107 that reads out the image matched with the name of the facility from the retrieve database when the name of the facility is inputted, and an image display unit 108 which displays the image obtained as the result of retrieval.
