PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a musical piece information acquisition device and a musical piece information acquisition method capable of acquiring musical piece information relating to album information from a CDDB even when musical piece data relating to a prescribed album are included in a music CD originally produced by a user. SOLUTION: When determined that the musical piece information can not be acquired on the basis of table-of-contents information (TOC information) recorded in a recording medium (music CD 30), the table-of-contents information relating to a prescribed track is generated from a plurality of tracks included in the table-of-contents information, and the musical piece information is acquired on the basis of the generated table-of-contents information.
