PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carrier for electrostatic latent image development which hardly causes carrier adhesion in the initial stage and with the lapse of time, gives high image density and good graininess (roughness), has stable charge imparting power over a long period of time, and suppresses environmental variation of electrostatic charging property and reduction in electrostatic charge left standing. SOLUTION: The carrier for electrostatic latent image development comprises magnetic core material particles and a coating layer formed on the core material particle surface, wherein the carrier has a weight average particle diameter Dw of 22-32μm and a ratio Dw/Dp of >1.0 to <1.2, wherein Dp represents a number average particle diameter of the carrier, and includes carrier particles having a particle diameter of <20μm in an amount of 0-7 wt.% and carrier particles having a particle diameter of <36μm in an amount of 90-100 wt.%, and the core material particles have related values of electric resistivity under specific conditions within a predetermined range each.
