<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem, that when a high precision measurement of the sugar content and the acid level of fruits or vegetables having thick skin is required, conventional methods execute measurements in such a condition that the fruit or the vegetable is put in a dark room or the like in order to cut off outside light, and in the case of a portable measuring device used with the emphasis on mobility, since the mobility is inhibited under the condition of the dark room, a method is adopted which acquires the sugar content and the acid level by measuring only a reflection light without using the dark room, but this method can measure only fruits and vegetables having thin skins. <P>SOLUTION: A quality measuring method is provided, in which amplitude modulation is applied to infrared rays; and when they are received, only modulated signal components are taken out by using a band-pass filter, and their amplitude values are measured, thereby reflections and absorption quantities of the fruits or the vegetables can be known. Furthermore, since the band-pass filter can cut off or attenuate external light other than the signal light, fruits and vegetables having thick skins can be measured by using a transmission method even if there is no dark room. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
