PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the deterioration of the image quality of a photographed image caused by deterioration in the transfer efficiency of an imaging element. SOLUTION: The frequency of a driving pulse given to a CCD image sensor can be switched on two stages. If set ISO sensitivity is higher than reference ISO sensitivity (that is, if a set gain is greater than a reference gain), the frequency of the driving pulse is set low (e.g., to 18MHz). If the set ISO sensitivity is equal with or lower than the reference ISO sensitivity on the other hand, the frequency of the driving pulse is set high (e.g., to 36MHz).
