PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of preventing the time required for AF from getting longer and holding it within a fixed time even if a subject is present under high illuminance or low illuminance. SOLUTION: When charge storage time decided by an exposure control means is longer than the cycle of a vertical synchronizing signal, the moving amount of a lens from calculating the integrated value of the high frequency component of a lens position until calculating the next integrated value of the high frequency component is varied in accordance with the charge storage time.
