PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable displacement swash plate type hydraulic rotating machine capable of setting strong the force of a spring for energizing a servo piston without causing enlargement of a device with no anxiety about axial deviation at a sliding part of the servo piston. SOLUTION: The servo piston 2 for tilting a swash plate for determining displacement is formed of a single body including the sliding part 2C. Springs 3A, 3B energizing the servo piston 2 into a neutral position, and a pair of spring seats 4A, 5A and a pair of spring seats 4B, 5B receiving the force of these springs 3A, 3B, are arranged at pressure chambers 6A, 6B respectively in the axially outside positions of both end faces 2A, 2B of the sliding part 2C. The inner diameter of the dimension X of a sliding face of a cylinder part 1A of a servo piston storage part 1 is set to a minimum diameter out of the inner diameters of the respective parts of the servo piston storage part, and the outer diameter of the dimension X of the sliding face of the sliding part 2C of the servo piston 2 is set to a maximum diameter out of the outer diameters of the respective parts of the servo piston 2.
