PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent element which can improve current injection characteristics and increase life span of the element by smoothing hole injection and suppressing injection of electrons. SOLUTION: The organic electroluminescent element comprises a buffer layer formed on an anode electrode and composed of a fullerene-based material and a hole injection layer and/or a hole transport layer formed on the buffer layer and doped with the fullerene-based material.
