PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording/reproducing method for recording or reproducing a multivalue signal in/from the recording unit of a magnetic recording medium, its magnetic recording medium, and its magnetic recording/reproducing device. SOLUTION: The magnetic recording/reproducing method records a multivalue signal in a magnetic recording medium 10 equipped with a recording unit area 1 constituted of two-layer stacked recording cells 131 and 141 and having signals output from the recording cells 131 and 141 same or different from each other in intensity, and recording the multivalue signal after initialization to align the magnetized states of the recording cells 131 and 141 in a given direction. A magnetic recording medium 10 uses this magnetic recording/reproducing method, and a magnetic recording/reproducing device 100 uses this magnetic recording/reproducing method.
