PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly usable recording/reproducing device capable of executing dubbing automatically or by a simple operation. SOLUTION: The type of a first recording medium such as an optical disk is discriminated when loading the first recording medium. When the discrimination result shows that the first recording medium is a write-once type, a rewritable type or the like, photographing data, program data or the like saved in a second recording medium such as a hard disk is dubbed in the first recording medium automatically or by a simple operation according to automatic message display while the device does not execute photographing, program recording or recorded data reproducing.
