<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minutely know an object shape on the basis of height information by calculating the height of the object with the use of a device with a simple structure. <P>SOLUTION: A camera for surveying a place where the object is moved periodically photographs the place. When the mobile object is detected in a photographed image, the speed of the mobile object and the feature line of the mobile object, which is expressed in the image and is vertical with respect to the mobile direction of the mobile object, are detected.
