PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intake control device for an internal combustion engine, actualizing low fuel consumption while securing reliability during high speed operation of a structural member of a phase varying device. SOLUTION: The intake control device comprises each intake valve 5 to be opened when intake air reaching each of a plurality of branch intake passages r1 through a main intake passage Rim of an engine E is sucked into each combustion chamber 2, each intake control valve 15 disposed on each branch intake passage at the upstream side of the intake valve 5, an opening/closing drive means 16 for independently opening/closing each of the plurality of intake control valves 15, and an opening/closing control means 17 for controlling each intake control valve to be fully opened before opening the intake valve and to be closed before closing the intake valve, via the opening/closing drive means 16. An intake valve phase varying adjustment part Ab sets an intake air introduction period Tq between a valve opening timing for the intake valve 5 and a valve closing timing for the intake control valve in accordance with operation information for the internal combustion engine.
