The unit has switching units (1) with actuation units (42) comprising actuating surfaces to actuate switches. An electroluminescent foil is applied on the surfaces and contacts with flexible foil conductors for supplying voltage to the surfaces. The conductors have an excess length between the adjacent switching units for adjusting actuation ranges of the units (42). A translucent cover is arranged over the surface and the foil.
