The method involves simultaneously impinging acoustic signals from acoustic sources (Q1-Q4) on an adaptive directional microphone, where the microphone provides an output signal. Acoustic signal components in the output signal are separated. Frequency and direction dependent damping for the respective acoustic signals is determined from the signal components and from the cross correlation of the output signal with the acoustic signals. An independent claim is also included for a device for executing a method of measuring adaptation ability of an adaptive directional microphone.
