The invention relates to the determination of the ground address which an aircraft must call within the ATN aeronautical telecommunication network to prepare the digital data exchange context with a ground air traffic control centre, comprising using the GSIF general data broadcast by certain ground telecommunication stations, amongst which are VDL ground stations permitting the router on board an aircraft crossing the coverage region of a routing centre to carry out an automatic contact procedure. The above comprises identifying the relevant ground telecommunication centre by means of the GSIF data thereof, to locate the same by means of said identification and select the address of the ground CM application of the air traffic control centre closest to the identified ground telecommunication centre from a file of ground CM application addresses classified by geographical region.
