PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a television video signal output unit capable of automatically determining a video formant conversion system which is suitable for the video display device of a connection destination, so as to perform selection, concerning the television video output unit for outputting the television signals of a plurality of video formats such as high-vision. SOLUTION: The unit comprises: a means for presenting on-screen displaying to confirm a video display state when the video format conversion system of the unit is set; a means for changing over the output of the video format; and a means for determining operation information from a user at the time. Accordingly, the unit automatically determines the video format conversion system which is suitable for the video display device of the connection destination, so as to perform selection.
