PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming method in which the decrease in productivity can be prevented, while maintaining fixing properties and glossiness. SOLUTION: In the image forming method, using the image forming apparatus having, a development means for develop electrostatic latent image on an image carrier 25 with toner; a transfer means for transfer the developed toner image onto a recording medium; a belt-fixing means 1 having a fixing belt 2, a fixing roller 4 and a heating roller 3 supporting the fixing belt 2, and a pressurizing roller 5 that is abutted against the fixing roller 4 via the fixing belt 2; and a temperature detection means 8, 8a for detecting the ambient temperature of a paper feed portion unit of the belt fixing means 1, the paper feed interval to the belt-fixing means 1 in an image forming mode is adjusted or varied, based on the temperature detected by the temperature detection means, disposed near the paper feeding portion of the belt fixing means 1.
