PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably and simply carry out detection of a paper end and detection of a margin amount without being affected by skills or the like of a measuring person. SOLUTION: An image of a print for adjustment 4 with an adjustment pattern 71 of yellow printed thereon is picked up. Image data of RGB is generated. Image data of a color with the largest tone average among the image data, for example, R or G is selected. A point where the tone of the image data of R or G exceeds a threshold is detected as the paper end 4a of the print for adjustment 4. When a printing end of the adjustment pattern 71 is detected, image data of B whose tone average is the lowest due to color bleeding of the adjustment pattern 71 is used, and a point where the tone of the image data of B exceeds the threshold is detected as the printing end 71a.
