PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently retrieving fatty acid esters from deoxidized waste generated in an edible oil production process. SOLUTION: The method for producing the fatty acid esters from a mixture containing free fatty acids and glycerides (e.g. deoxidized waste) comprises the following process (1): in the presence of oxygen, the free fatty acids and an alcohol are reacted with each other to obtain a reaction mixture containing the corresponding fatty acid esters, and water contained in the mixture is removed and the glyceride in the mixture is subjected to alcoholysis with a relevant enzyme to retrieve the objective fatty acid esters. Alternatively, the method comprises the following process (2): the glycerides are hydrolyzed to retrieve a free fatty acid-containing oil component, and in the presence of oxygen, the free fatty acids in the oil component are converted to the corresponding fatty acid esters, water produced by the esterification is removed, and unreacted free fatty acids in the oil component are then esterified in the presence of glycerol to retrieve the objective fatty acid esters.
