<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving method of a plasma display panel, and a plasma display device that can display images of superior quality, while suppressing the rise in black luminance. <P>SOLUTION: One field period is constituted of a plurality of sub-fields, each having an initialization period, a write period, and a sustain period, and in initialization periods of the plurality of sub-fields, an all-cell initializing operation, where all discharge cells to display an image are discharged for initialization or a selective initializing operation, where discharge cells which are sustain-discharged in last sub-fields are selectively discharged for initialization is performed; and a time allotted to write discharge of sub-fields, where the all-cell initializing operation is performed is set shorter than the time allotted for writing discharge of sub-fields where the selective initializing operation is performed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
