PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To record a focused image even if starting the photography of an animation in an imaging apparatus having a still image photography function and an animation photography function. SOLUTION: When a focus lock state for maintaining the focused state of automatic focus processing for still images is set by pressing a shutter button by one step, the recording processing of moving images is started while the focused state of the automatic focus processing for still images is maintained by pressing a moving image recording button 68, thus focusing a subject when the photography of the moving image is started, and avoiding the inconveniences of recording a blurred image when the photography of the moving image is started. When the shutter button is released during the recording of the moving image, the automatic focus processing for the moving image is started, thus recording the moving image focused by following a change in the subject.
