PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solar beam excitation laser and a cooling system therefor. SOLUTION: The solar beam excitation laser excites a laser medium by a solar beam to perform laser oscillation. The solar beam excitation laser 10 comprises the laser medium 12 and a housing device 14 which supports the laser medium 12 inside, holds a cooling liquid in a space between the laser medium 12 and the housing device 14, and further comprises a condensing optical element 22 irradiating with the converged solar beam along the laser medium 12. The solar beam excitation laser 10 further comprises a pair of optical reflective elements 16 and 18 arranged on end parts of the laser medium 12 facing each other while adjoining. The end part of the housing device 14 is made a Brewster angle. Related to the cooling liquid, water functions as an optical medium to form a water lens, and simultaneously cleaning for the condensing optical element 22 is performed.
