COMPONENT FOR OPTICAL AMPLIFICATION, OPTICAL AMPLIFIER, AND OPTICAL COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a component for optical amplification used for an S-band optical amplifier of high efficiency, and the S-band optical amplifier of high efficiency, and an efficient optical communication system using the same. SOLUTION: Optical isolator 2 and an excitation light source 3 are connected to an input end of a multiplexer/demultiplexer 4 which multiplexes excitation light with signal light. An Er-added fiber 1 is connected to an input end and an output end of an optical filter 5. One end of an Er-added fiber 1-a is connected to the output end of the multiplexer/demultiplexer 4 while one end of an Er-added fiber 1-b to the input end of a multiplexer/demultiplexer 4'. Thus, an optical filter is inserted in the middle of the Er-added fiber. An optical isolator 2' is connected to the output end of the multiplexer/demultiplexer 4'. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
