PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely estimate a desirable overwrite value OW in a desired recording frequency f1 about a magnetic disk of an evaluation object. SOLUTION: A recording frequency characteristic curve 100 showing a relation between an LF frequency f1 as a recording frequency in a frequency band including the desired recording frequency and the overwrite value OW at the LF frequency f1 is obtained statistically with a method of least square from overwrite value OW (plotting points in the figure) measured for two or more respective different LF frequencies f1 in the frequency band, and the overwrite value in the desired recording frequency is estimated based on the characteristic curve 100.
