PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polytrimethylene terephthalate based polyester fiber low in deposition of cyclic dimers in dying, weaving and knitting, stably produced, excellent in quality control. SOLUTION: The invention relates to the polytrimethylene terephthalate based fiber comprising trimethylene terephthalate as a principal repeating unit, having≤1.5% by mass of the cyclic dimer content and 0.5-1.5 dL/g of intrinsic viscosity (measured in orthochlorophenol solution, at 35°C).
