PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To raise the sensitivity at a low angular velocity in an optical fiber gyroscope. SOLUTION: The optical fiber gyroscope of an interference type performs phase modulation between a plurality of counter-propagating light beams. The light intensity of the optical fiber gyroscope (FOG) is obtained by temporarily adjusting the phase difference between two counter-propagating light beams, luminous intensity variation amount caused by adjusting the phase difference is measured, and a light intensity value is calculated from the measured luminous intensity variation amount using a well-known method of the optical fiber gyroscope. The light intensity value is compared with a threshold level or a previously obtained value, and, when it exceeds a predetermined value, a rejection signal is outputted. Preferably, the temporary adjustment of the phase difference is performed not to disturb the regular operation of the optical fiber gyroscope. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
