[PROBLEMS] To obtain structure information efficiently in an ion dissociation device or an ion dissociation method used in a mass spectrometer by providing an ion dissociation device or method where ions are irradiated with an electron beam and an infrared laser beam along the same axis and thereby performing measurement of a trace sample quickly. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] The ion dissociation device used in a mass spectrometer comprises an ion introduction section (10) for introducing ions into an ion cyclotron resonance section (20), the ion cyclotron resonance section (20) for trapping the introduced ions, an electron beam irradiating section (30) for irradiating the trapped ions with an electron beam, and an infrared laser irradiating section (40) for irradiating the trapped ions with an infrared laser beam. The ion dissociation device is characterized in that the ions are irradiated with the electron beam and the infrared laser beam along the same axis.
