An expansion joint for a bridge and an assembling method thereof are provided to shorten a period of construction and traffic control by assembling and disassembling components of an expansion joint easily for replacement work, to economize in resources and the cost required for maintenance by replacing the damaged or deteriorated component of the expansion joint only, and to prevent the corrosion of a bridge bearing between a pier and a bridge slab and to protect vehicles and pedestrians passing below a bridge by having high waterproofing efficiency. An expansion joint for a bridge comprises: a pair of support blocks(30) coupled to the end of two adjacent floor slabs(10) of a bridge by a fastener(40) and provided with anchor holes(32) and nuts(34); a waterproofing elastic member(60) located in a gap between support blocks and the top of each support block and composed of a body(62) and wings(64) to have a T-shaped cross section; and a pair of cover blocks(50) coupled on the top of the support blocks by coupling bolts(70) to nuts of the support blocks via bolt holes(52) and provided with fingers(80) to engage with each other and to form a gap(90). An assembling method of the expansion joint for the bridge comprises the steps of: placing a pair of support blocks provided with anchor holes and nuts on the ends of two adjacent bridge slabs, and perforating the top of the bridge slab correspondingly to the anchor holes of the support blocks using a drilling machine; coupling a fastener such as chemical anchors to the bridge slab via the anchor holes of the support blocks; inserting the body of a waterproofing elastic member which is formed to have a T-shaped cross section by forming a pair of wings on both sides of a body into a gap between a pair of support blocks, and locating the wings of the waterproofing elastic member to the top of each support block; and placing a pair of cover blocks on the top of the support blocks and the waterproofing elastic member to make bolt holes corresponded to the nuts of the support blocks, and assembling bolts to the nuts of the support blocks via the bolt holes of the cover blocks and making fingers engaged with each other at the same time. |
