An apparatus and a method for transmitting data in an optical reproduction apparatus are provided to recognize the connection of a USB(Universal Serial Bus) storing device and transmit data of an optical disc to the USB storing device without an additional device. A USB host(250) recognizes a USB storing device(260), and stores received data in the USB storing device(260). An optical disc loading part having a pickup unit(220) and a DSP(Digital Signal Processor)(230) includes an SDRAM(Synchronous Dynamic RAM)(231) in which data of a CD(Compact Disc)(210) are loaded and stored. A microcomputer(240) controls the optical disc loading part so that the optical disc loading part loads the data of the CD(210), loads the data stored in the SDRAM(231), and transmits the loaded data to the USB host(250).
