The cash desk (1) has a passage barrier (11) with a movable blocking element (13) for blocking a passage (9) for a person passing the cash desk when in the operating position, whereby the barrier element has at least one associated further blocking part (15) that is part of the passage barrier for increasing the width of the barrier element measured in the passage direction. An independent claim is also included for a passage barrier for a cash desk.
