Class 68(1) A tractor mounted loading device which can be easily adapted for use as a frontend loader, an over loader or for light bull-dozing operations. When used as a front end loader the device consists of a pair of main lifting arms a (Fig. 1), pivoted at b to a framework c attached to the tractor. A pair of hydraulic rams d control the position of the arms. A pair of secondary arms h are pivoted to the main arms at g and the shovel i is pivoted to the lower end of the secondary arms. The linkage k, m and n imparts an automatic roll-back action to the shovel as it is raised by the main lifting arms. The shovel is tipped for emptying by extending the rams j pivoted to the secondary arms at p and to the shovel at o. For use on an over loader links n and the rams j are interchanged and tipping is then effected by extending the rams j after the arms a have been raised to a vertical position by the rams d. In a modification (Fig. 3), a rocker plate q pivoted to the secondary arms at r, is connected to the shovel by a link v and to the rams j. A plate t connected to the arms h is provided and has a projection x1 which cooperates with a movable stop x to limit the position of the secondary arms h relative to the main arms a. For front-end loading operations the shovel is tipped by extending the rams j. For over loading operations the rocker q is bolted to the plate t and the rams j then swing the arms h about the pivot g. For light bull dozing operations the shovel is inverted by extending the rams j until stops y on the shovel abut projections y1 on the arms h as shown in Fig. 3.
