摘要 A novel thermophilic L-ribose isomerase and use thereof are provided to perform enzyme reaction at high temperature, inhibit microorganism infection, increase reaction speed and minimize production of by-products, so that production yield of aldose or ketose is enhanced. The thermophilic L-ribose isomerase has the properties of: (i) optimal temperature of 60-80 deg. C; (ii) optimal pH of 6.0-7.0; (iii) molecular weight of 40-55 kDa; (iv) increase of activity in the presence of Co^2+ or Ni^2+; and (v) decrease of activity in the presence of Zn^2+, Cu^2+ or Mg^2+, wherein the L-ribose isomerase has the N-terminal amino acid sequence containing SEQ ID NO:1; the L-ribose isomerase is derived from thermophilic microorganism Paenibacillus sp. RI-39(KCCM 10653P). The aldose or ketose is produced by contacting the L-ribose isomerase with the substrate of aldose including L-ribose or D-lyxose or the substrate of ketose including L-ribulose or D-xylulose at 60-80 deg. C and pH 6-7 in the presence of Co^2+ or Ni^2+.
