An apparatus and a method for measuring receiving signal strength in a mobile communication terminal are provided to measure the strength of the receiving signal before the entry from a wakeup mode to a sleep mode after an RF(Radio Frequency) circuit is stabilized, thereby notifying a user of the strength of correct receiving signal by measuring normal receiving signal strength and displaying an antenna bar gauge without tremble. A measurement time selection part(33) selects measurement time if the entry from a wakeup mode to a sleep mode is determined. A signal strength display part measures receiving signal strength at the measurement time and displays the measured receiving signal strength. The measurement time selection part(33) additionally includes a measurement time calculating part(30) which decodes a message of a paging channel and selects the measurement time if an entry into the sleep mode is determined. |
