An apparatus and a method for controlling traffic handover in a multi-mode mobile communication terminal are provided to receive IMSI information even without connecting a USIM(Universal Subscriber Identity Module) in the second network communication mode when the traffic handover from the first network communication mode to the second network communication mode occurs in the dual mode mobile communication terminal, thereby reducing a handover processing time and enhancing a handover success rate. An apparatus for controlling traffic handover in a multi-mode mobile communication terminal comprises the followings: the first processing module(216); the second processing module(213) of which an inter chip path is connected with the first processing module(216); and an application processor which controls the first processing module(216) so as to transmit an IMSI(International Mobile Subscriber Identity) to the second processing module(213) when a traffic handover event from the first mode to the second mode occurs.
