INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE EXHAUST LINE MUFFLER

An exhaust line muffler for an internal combustion engine is provided to reduce resistant power transferred to a cross member by temporarily separating impact of outlet pipes from an upper cover through time interval. An exhaust line muffler(1) for an internal combustion engine, includes a casing(3) defined through an upper cover(6) in a front portion(4) disposed in an engine direction and defined through a lower cover(7) in a rear portion(5) disposed in the rear of a vehicle. An inlet pipe(9) and at least two outlet pipes(10,10') are arranged in the casing. The inlet pipe is connected to the engine through the upper cover, and the outlet pipes discharge exhaust gas to atmosphere through the lower cover. The exhaust line muffler further includes a member(13) for temporarily separating impact of exhaust pipes from the upper cover when impact is applied to the rear portion of the casing or the exhaust pipes and the muffler is compressed.
