PHOSPHOR FOR PLASMA DISPLAY PANEL AND PLASMA DISPLAY PANEL HAVING PHOSPHOR LAYER FORMED OF THE SAME

Provided is a phosphor for a plasma display panel, which shows excellent discharge and color purity characteristics, and has improved luminance and lifespan characteristics. The phosphor for a plasma display panel comprises: a zinc silicate-based phosphor represented by the formula of Zn2SiO4:Mn; and a continuous crystalline metal oxide layer based on yttrium oxide(Y2O3) and formed on the surface of the zinc silicate-based phosphor. In the continuous crystalline metal oxide coating layer, yttrium oxide is present in an amount of 0.01-10 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of the zinc silicate-based phosphor. The continuous crystalline metal oxide layer has a thickness of 1-30 nm.
