The apparatus with a needle shut-off nozzle (1) is provided for an injecti on moulding machine or for an injection moulding tool for processing a polyester melt. This apparatus includes a channel (2) for a flow of melt, a nozzle (3) at the output of the channel, a shut-off needle (4) guided in the channel for shutting of the nozzle and a drive cylinder (5') with piston (6) which moves the shut-off needle as a needle drive (5). In this arrangement the piston can be driven by means of a fluid working medium. The drive cylinder is arranged inside the channel and is a part of a hydraulic device in which the fluid working medium is a compressed gas, the pressure of which is greater than 50 bar.
