WATER SOLUBLE OR COLLOIDAL COMPOSITION OF ZINC PYRITHIONE AND PREPARATION METHOD OF THE SAME

A water soluble or colloidal composition of zinc pyrithione and a preparation method thereof are provided to enhance storage stability of soluble zinc pyrithione by inhibiting its recrystallization and precipitation during storage, so that its antimicrobial and antifungal effects are efficiently exhibited when it is applied to the final products. The water soluble or colloidal composition of zinc pyrithione comprises 0.1-25 wt.% of zinc pyrithione, 10-200 wt.% of organic acid as an organic ligand capable of forming a complex with Zn^2+ of the zinc pyrithione, its derivative or its salt, and the remained amount of water, wherein the organic acid is selected from citric acid, oxalic acid, lactic acid, salicylic acid, tartaric acid, acetic acid, succinic acid, gluconic acid, garlic acid, maleic acid, stearic acid, lauric acid and palmitic acid. The water soluble or colloidal composition of zinc pyrithione is prepared by adding peroxides into a mixture containing zinc pyrithione, organic acid as an organic ligand capable of forming a complex with Zn^2+ of the zinc pyrithione and water, and stirring the mixture, wherein the amount of peroxides added is 5-100 wt.%.
