A robot cleaner having a roller type sensor is provided to reduce the production cost by installing a roller which contacts on the ground surface and converts a proceeding direction of a cleaner main body in sloping outward a cliff, and to prevent defective operation and improve reliability by sensing the cliff with the roller compared to an infrared ray sensor. A robot cleaner comprises a cleaner main body(10) formed with a certain space and an intake port(12); wheels(20) installed at the cleaner main body with front wheels(22) and back wheels(24) driven by a motor; a suction unit installed at the inner side of the intake port; and a roller(30) installed at the front side of the cleaner main body relatively and shortly protruded from the cleaner main body compared to the wheels to be separated to a certain angle about a proceeding direction. The roller is installed at a certain distance backward from the front wheel.
