The engine has housing with a cylindrical bore (3), a cylinder head (4), a piston (5) provided in a cylinder (2) and a fuel injector (18) controlled by a control unit for injecting fuel into two separate sheets. The piston has a cavity for cooperating with the sheets when the piston reaches top dead center. The cavity is shaped such that the sheets do not interfere with each other, when fuel is simultaneously injected in the sheets.
