The present invention relates to gene construct systems and vectors comprising said gene construct systems representing efficient tools to yield a highly pure population of a single functional transplantable cell type from a mixture of cells (a starting population). The invention further relates to a method for isolating a pure population of cells of a single cell type using the vectors according to the invention. Moreover, the present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition comprising the gene construct system or vector or isolated cells of the invention, as well as to the use of same for tissue engineering, cell therapy or transplantation.
