A paper feeder of an image forming apparatus is provided to reduce the percussion and noise generated by contact between an elevation plate and a paper feeding cassette body when mounting/separating the paper feeding cassette onto/from the image forming apparatus. A paper feeding cassette body is installed at an image forming apparatus, and has a loading space for loading plural papers. An elevation plate(165) is installed in the loading space of the paper feeding cassette body. The elevation plate(165) elevates the papers to a first location where the papers are contacted with a pick up roller, and falls the papers to a second location. An elevation driving unit(190) moves the elevation plate to the first location. A percussion buffer unit(180) generates electromagnetic repulsion for pushing the elevation plate(165) in the opposite direction of the moving direction of the elevation plate(165), thereby decreasing the moving speed of the elevation plate(165) when the elevation plate(165) is moved to one of the first and second locations.
