A cleaning robot having a function for returning to a charge station and a method thereof are provided to quickly recover the cleaning robot to the charge station by using image information inputted through a camera and sensing position of the charge station and by obtaining and memorizing environmental information around the charge station every time that the cleaning robot is moved to a predetermined distance. A cleaning robot having a function for returning to a charge station comprises: a camera unit(160) outputting images about the charge station inputted from a lens; a microprocessor(150) obtaining and memorizing image information from the camera unit and extracting information in recovering the charge station to control the cleaning robot to return to the charge station; a memory(170) keeping a management program for driving the cleaning robot and including an image data base for memorizing the images about the charge station of the cleaning robot; and a battery voltage sensing circuit(180) detecting voltage of a battery(140) of the cleaning robot at every cycle and outputting power-needed signals when the sensed battery voltage is under a standard value. |
