A lock for securing first and second telescoped pole sections (P1, P2) includes a base (30) defining a through-bore for receipt of an end (E1) of a first pole section (P1). A neck (52) projects from the base (30) and a colla r (50) is connected to the neck (52). The collar (50) defines an opening align ed with the bore of the base (30). The collar (50) receives a second pole secti on (P2) that is telescoped into the first pole section (P1). A fastener (80) is connected to the collar (50) and threaded end thereof (84) projects from the collar (50). A lever control member (90) is mated with the threated end (84) of the fastener (80) and is movable to selectively radially constrict the collar (50). The fastener (80) is rotatable relative to the collar (50) but is frictionally engaged with the collar to prevent its unintended rotation. As necessary, the fastener (80) is rotated relative to the collar (50) to adjus t the amount that the lever (90) is advanced thereon. |
