SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PROPORTIONAL FAIRNESS SCHEDULING

A PF(Proportional Fairness) scheduling system and a method thereof are provided to enable an MS(Mobile Station) to feed back CQI(Channel Quality Information) to a BS(Base Station), only when a self scheduling metric value exceeds a threshold value, when the BS transmits the threshold value of a scheduling metric, thus overhead required for scheduling is reduced. A BS(100) defines the number of first MSs(200) to which CQI will be fed back, calculates the number of second MSs(300) to which the CQI is substantially fed back, by using the CQI received from the plural MSs(200), and compares the number of the first MSs(200) with the number of the second MSs(300) to control the first scheduling metric value for the plural MSs(200,300) to determine whether to feed back the CQI, and transmits the controlled first metric value to the plural MSs(200,300). The plural MSs(200,300) compare the first scheduling metric value with self second scheduling metric values to determine whether to feed back the CQI.
