摘要 <p>A VAD device and a method are provided to improve the quality of a soot preform and the optical characteristic of optical fibers obtained from the soot preform by controlling first maximum temperature and temperature difference by detecting the entire temperature distribution for the end portion of the soot preform by using a temperature measuring instrument. The VAD device(100) is composed of a first torch(130) growing a core(122) by depositing a soot on the end of a soot preform(120) aligned on a vertical axis(110); a second torch(140) growing clad(124) by depositing the soot on the outer peripheral surface of the core; a temperature measuring instrument(170) detecting the temperature distribution of the end of the soot preform in a vertical axis direction; and a controller(180) checking first and second maximum temperature values(T1,T3) and a minimum temperature value(T2) between the first and second maximum temperature values according to the detected temperature distribution and regulating the first maximum temperature value, difference between the first and second maximum temperature values, or difference between the second maximum temperature value and the minimum temperature value.</p>
