A fixing device including a fixing belt is provided to prevent the heat loss of the fixing belt, reduce the jam or curl of a recording medium, and improve the fixing efficiency of the recording medium by making the recording medium absorb the fixing belt before the recording medium penetrates a fixing nip. A heating roller(910) includes a heat source for fixing. A fixing belt(920) covers the circumference of the heating roller(910) and the circumference of a belt driving roller(930). A pressurizing roller(950) forms a fixing nip(N) on the circumferential surface of the fixing belt(920). A corona electrifier electrifies the inner circumferential surface and the outer circumferential surface of the fixing belt(920) in a polarity opposite to a polarity of a toner image(T), for making a recording medium absorb the outer circumferential surface of the fixing belt(920).
